I want to thank everyone that entered my Miles Away CD Giveaway. I wish everyone could win, but I only have 3 CDs to giveaway. I used Random.Org to pick the winners, but for some reason I couldn't copy and paste the results into this blog. I also tried to save it onto the desktop too, but that didn't work either. But, I all know you trust me!
For the Vintage Fashionista: Blog of the Month - The Rockabilly Socialite:
The Vintage Fashionista chose me as the Blog of The Month! She interviewed me and put together a great post. Go check it out!

Last Wednesday we went to Lyons Cruise Night in old town Newhall. The car show and cruise are put on by the Fly By Knights car club. There was also a pinup contest put on by a local photographer, Ambitious Misfit Photography.
It was my actual birthday that day, so I was lucky enough to have some good friends come out and support me in the pinup contest, as it was crowd cheering based. Chris and Sandra Sprague also brought me a birthday gift- a vintage tiki pineapple tooth pick set for my bar! I love it! Big thanks to Chris and Sandra!

Now it is all about Jamaican prints! Okay, not really. Hawaiian is still boss, but I had to think of some fun title for this post about my new Ruth Clarage Hand Printed Original of Montego Bay!
This was birthday gift from my fabulous fiance, and is basically my dream set! It is a four piece resort set, that was hand printed in Jamaica and is one of a kind. If that wasn't great enough, it is also DEADSTOCK! Wow!
My fav piece is the playsuit for sure. The fabric is light pink with a hot pink print palm trees, tropical flowers, and pineapples. The straps can be worn the way shown, or halter style if tied behind the neck. There are little shorts with an attached sarong-style tie coverup skirt.

Last weekend we went to DiPiazza's in Long Beach for Tom Ingram's show. He had Blue Collar Combo and The Side-Wynders (two bands from this years VLV lineup) playing, burlesque dancing, and a $5 tee shirt sale. We were also celebrating my birthday!
I had never been to DiPizza's before, but it was a cool place! It is a pizzeria and bar that was decorated in cool posters and event flyers. There was a nice big stage and dance floor, making the place perfect for shows.

Check out this cool video from Los Benders! This band came from Mexico to Viva Las Vegas and recorded this video while there. I was lucky enough to be asked to be in it- so check it out and "like" them on facebook!
Make sure to silence Larry Terry on the left before you watch the video:

On July 30th we went to Moldy Marvin's Rat Fink Extravaganza and Car Show. There is a car show, bands, and contests galore-hoola hooping contest, tattoo contest, three legged race, etc. There is also a pool for swimming and spaces to camp overnight. We attend the show every year as my fiance's band Blue Collar Combo is always on the bill. The event gets bigger and better every year!
The first thing we did is watch Blue Collar Combo play.
On July 20th we trucked on down to Big's in Fullerton for Chris "Sugarballs" Sprague & His 18 Wheeler's CD release party for "Miles Away." This event has been long awaited so we were ready for a "truck driving good time"!

I am very relieved that I got such good feedback on my first wedding post. I am so lucky to have such a strong online support group. I hope you all are looking forward to more vintage wedding posts!
So, why not start with a bang?
Before Zack and I got engaged I always told him that I had three wedding musts:
1) A Perfect Ring. This mattered to me more than anything because I plan on wearing it the rest of my life, where the rest of the wedding is well......just a day. I wanted it to be an expression of me. I wanted it to make me feel special. I wanted it to be REAL. I think I deserve it, and I am glad he agrees. I know all brides think this, but I really think I have the prettiest ring I have ever seen! So- CHECK! Mission accomplished!
2) A Cake. I like cake....so....why not? I want it to be yummy and pretty. It doesn't have to cost a lot. On the contrary- I actually want to make it myself!
3) A Vintage Dress. I also like dresses, and dressing up and feeling pretty, so of course I wanted a fun vintage dress to wear. Also hat and gloves are a must. So I thought I would do my first wedding post about just that.....Vintage Wedding Dresses!
At first people might have expected me to wear something like this:
The Grace Kelly dress.
This show is going to be a blast- The Side-Wynders, Blue Collar Combo, and burlesque!!! If that wasn't enough, we will also be celebrating my birthday. There will be cake! So, I hope some of my readers can come on out! Remember your dancing shoes!

Okay, it's about time I started filling you all in on my wedding planning. So, this is the first of hopefully many wedding posts. Sometimes I don't feel like talking about it, and making a fuss and all, and then I realize that this is the only time in my life I will be engaged and planning a wedding- so I better start relishing it!
Now, you may think I would be having a very traditional vintage wedding- Emily Post style. Fancy embellished invitations, engagement party, bridal shower, guest list bursting at the seams, 4 course sit down dinner, dancing to a full band, cake smooshing, and a big send off.......
But it may surprise you to find out that nothing makes me want to barf more than that idea. Insert finger in throat -Gag! I guess in this way I am an Offbeat Bride. While I love the vintage lifestyle, I am still a modern gal. I have tattoos, curse, drink, work for my own money, and already live with my fiance (for 5+ years now) and own 1/2 of the house we live in. So, you can see how the modern white wedding doesn't really suit us or our lifestyle.
